Global Agricultural Solutions began with a powerful vision: to bring biogas installations and essential agrimachinery to Kenyan farmers, particularly those in rural areas, to boost productivity and reduce reliance on costly, non-renewable energy sources. The co-founders, Grace Wanjiru and Kelvin Ndungu, bring a unique mix of skills that fuel the company’s growth. Grace’s background as a medic, combined with her close ties to rural communities, gives her insight into the health and environmental benefits that clean energy offers to local farmers. Kelvin’s expertise in business development, renewable energy, and agrimachinery has provided the company with a strong foundation for growth and scalability. Together, they set out to empower farmers by providing alternatives to traditional farming methods, aiming to improve yields while minimizing environmental impact.

Beginning with biogas installations, Global Agricultural Solutions gradually expanded its offerings to include a range of energy-efficient agrimachinery tailored to the needs of farmers. But as the climate crisis became increasingly urgent, the team recognized an opportunity to scale its impact further. To meet the rising demand for modern, accessible agricultural solutions, they turned to digital and climate-smart technologies.

Their solution was a cutting-edge digital platform designed to connect agrimachinery suppliers directly with farmers. Developed with input from Collins Njoka, the company’s CTO and an expert in IoT and AI, the app is user-friendly and allows farmers to browse, rent, or purchase clean energy-powered machinery. In line with their commitment to sustainability, the app includes a carbon point tracker and a dashboard displaying real-time metrics such as machinery transactions, supplier participation, carbon credits achieved, and the number of individuals impacted. These features empower farmers to track their contributions to sustainability and make data-driven decisions that benefit both their operations and the environment.

To ensure accessibility across Kenya’s diverse farming communities, the platform incorporates AI language models that support Kiswahili and other local languages. This linguistic inclusivity allows farmers in rural areas to navigate the app comfortably, breaking down language barriers and expanding the platform’s reach.

The company’s growth has been guided by CFO Bernice Mwangi, a CPA who has ensured financial discipline while scaling operations. Bernice’s strategic oversight aligns business objectives with environmental impact, creating a sustainable model that appeals to both profit-focused and impact-driven investors.
